Gutsy Goddess—Judith

"Go out in nature and just be. Let the waves of the oceans, the great lakes heal you." Judith

Keep an open mind and open heart.

The biggest life challenge I have learned to cope with is the sudden tragic unexpected loss of my husband. He was killed July 27th of 2011 while riding his bicycle.  We would have been married 37 years that November.

One of the greatest learnings I have experienced is that life goes on.  We grow, we learn, we experience deep sorrow, we grieve.  We never quit hurting when the love of our life is gone.  Grief changes shape and sadness turns to joy and laughter.  We learn to enjoy life again and create new memories.  We allow the sadness and memories to trickle out of our eyes when need be.

Since his death I have created a 20 minute short documentary titled GHOSTBIKE that has been in several film festivals throughout the United States.  I have just written a book, titled Remember His Name that will be available soon.  These two creative endeavors have helped with my own healing and their purpose is to help others learn about tragedy, healing, hope and forgiveness.

My words of wisdom: we are not alone.  It is okay to ask for help and I encourage that, as often as necessary.  Go out in nature and sit, walk, just be.  Let the waves of the oceans, the great lakes heal you. Travel, see and experience new places and new things.  Breathe, remember to breathe.  Exercise any way you enjoy.  Bicycling, running, fast walking, swimming, feel your body, enjoy it and love it.  Love yourself.  Take time for you.  Be grateful!  Write a gratitude list daily.  Pray, journal, meditate and learn about chakras.  Keep an open mind and open heart. I am just so excited and grateful to be alive, to experience this glorious life!

  1. I’m so sorry for your loss, Judith. What I’ve learned is that you never ‘get over’ losing someone you love, you just learn to take one step, then another…like you, being in nature has always been my salvation.
